Santosh Ojha’s Journey: Boosting Yield with Agriplast’s Shadenet House
Stepping away from a comfortable pharmaceutical career into the world of protected cultivation wasn’t a decision Santosh Ojha made overnight. It took countless hours of research and a deep inner conviction to finally embrace farming. And yet, once he committed, there was no turning back. Today, Santosh stands proudly in front of his newly erected Double Shadenet House—built in collaboration with Agriplast—and he can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of accomplishment.

From Pharma to Farming: Santosh Ojha’s Success with Agriplast’s Shadenet House
For Santosh, research has always been second nature. With a pharmaceutical background, he was accustomed to data-driven decisions. So, when he decided to invest in a protected cultivation setup, he meticulously compared various options before placing his trust in Agriplast. One crucial factor that swayed him was Agriplast’s technical collaboration with Ginegar, an Israeli company known for cutting-edge greenhouse technologies. Intrigued by the promise of durability and long-term stability, Santosh took the leap and opted for Agriplast’s Double Shadenet House.
From day one, the process was both exciting and challenging. Santosh vividly recalls digging 281 holes just to lay the foundation for the pillars. It was grueling work, but each step brought him closer to realizing his vision. “These pillars haven’t rusted,” he says with pride, pointing to the sturdy framework. “This technology from Agriplast is built to endure, and that gives me confidence.
But building the structure was only part of the story. Once the net house was up, Santosh found himself navigating the complexities of selecting the right seeds, ensuring proper ventilation, and maintaining the ideal climate conditions for his crops. This is where Mr. Peeyush Pandey, an agronomist from Agriplast, stepped in. “I was completely new to this,” Santosh admits. “Mr. Pandey’s guidance on seed varieties, nursery establishment, and daily maintenance proved invaluable. Without his expertise, I would have been lost.”
Within a short span of four months, Santosh’s net house began to resemble the lush, thriving farm he had dreamed about. Healthy plants stood tall beneath the protective net, free from harsh weather and potential pests. The difference was noticeable not only to Santosh but to the entire village. Curious neighbors would drop by, eager to learn about this new form of farming that promised better yields and minimal chemical intervention. “They see how the plants flourish, and they ask me so many questions,” Santosh says with a smile. “I believe more and more farmers will want to adopt this method.”
What truly strikes a chord with Santosh is the sense of responsibility he feels toward his crops. He likens caring for the plants to nurturing a child—an endeavor that demands dedication and unwavering attention. Each day, he walks several kilometers inside the net house, inspecting leaves, checking for any signs of stress, and adjusting the environment as needed. “It’s hard work,” he confesses, “but it keeps me active and healthy. And I know I’m providing people with cleaner, safer food—food without hidden toxins.”
Looking ahead, Santosh has ambitious plans to expand his protected cultivation area, confident that the Agriplast structure will continue to stand strong for years to come. For him, it’s not just about increasing yield or boosting income—though both have shown promising signs—it’s about setting a new standard for farming in his region. As he says, “When you care for your plants like they’re your own children, they reward you with a harvest you can be proud of.”
